Content Moderation Policy

1. Our Commitment
CivicRate is committed to maintaining a respectful, constructive civic discourse. Political discussions can be passionate, but they must remain within the boundaries of law and decency.
2. Prohibited Content
The following content is strictly prohibited and will be removed:
- Defamation: False statements of fact presented as truth that damage a person's reputation
- Hate Speech: Content targeting individuals or groups based on religion, caste, gender, ethnicity, or other protected characteristics
- Unverified Criminal Accusations: Accusing any person of specific criminal acts without citing verifiable public records or court documents
- Abusive Language: Profanity, personal attacks, threats, or intimidation directed at any individual
- Misinformation: Deliberately false information presented as fact
- Spam: Repetitive, irrelevant, or promotional content
- Manipulation: Coordinated campaigns to artificially inflate or deflate ratings
3. What IS Allowed
CivicRate encourages:
- Honest ratings based on your genuine perception of a leader's performance
- Constructive criticism backed by personal experience or public knowledge
- Civil debate and discussion about policies, governance, and civic issues
- Sharing publicly available facts with source attribution
- Reporting local civic issues with factual descriptions
4. Fact vs. Opinion
CivicRate clearly separates:
- Citizen Ratings — Personal opinions expressed through star ratings (clearly labeled as citizen opinions)
- User Comments & Discussions — User-generated content (moderated but not fact-checked by CivicRate)
- Verified Public Data — Data sourced from official databases like MyNeta, PRS India, and Election Commission (clearly attributed to sources)
5. Enforcement
- Content that violates these rules will be removed without prior notice
- Repeat offenders may have their IP addresses blocked
- CivicRate may cooperate with law enforcement when required by law
6. Reporting Violations
To report content that violates this policy, email support@civicrate.in with the URL and description of the violation.
