Election Season Guidelines

How CivicRate operates during election periods to maintain non-partisanship and comply with the Election Commission of India's Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Our Commitments During Elections

  1. No candidate endorsements — CivicRate will never recommend who to vote for
  2. No score-based voting guidance — "Highest rated" is not "best candidate to vote for"
  3. Equal treatment — All parties and candidates get the same page treatment
  4. Source transparency — Every data point links to its source (ECI/MyNeta)
  5. Real-time corrections — Factual errors corrected within 48 hours of reporting
  6. No paid political content — Zero political advertising during or outside elections

Model Code of Conduct Compliance

During MCC periods declared by the Election Commission of India, CivicRate adheres to additional safeguards:

  • All election-related pages display MCC disclaimer
  • No exit poll data or voting predictions published
  • No new "most corrupt" or "worst rated" lists published during silent period
  • Citizen ratings continue as usual (citizen expression, not editorial content)
  • Responsive to ECI directives within 24 hours
