Correction & Takedown Policy
Last updated: March 2026
1. Our Approach
CivicRate strives for accuracy in all data displayed. We recognize that errors may occur and that individuals may have legitimate concerns about content on the platform. This policy outlines how to request corrections or content removal.
2. What Can Be Corrected
- Factual Errors: Incorrect data about a leader (e.g., wrong party affiliation, incorrect constituency, wrong assets/criminal data)
- Scraped Data Errors: Inaccurate data pulled from external sources (MyNeta, PRS India)
- Profile Information: Outdated or incorrect biographical information
3. What Cannot Be Removed
- Citizen Ratings: Individual star ratings represent personal opinions and cannot be removed at the request of the rated individual. Low ratings are not grounds for removal.
- Aggregate Scores: CR Scores are mathematical averages of citizen ratings and reflect collective opinion.
4. How to Submit a Correction Request
Send an email to support@civicrate.in with:
- Subject line: "Correction Request — [Leader Name]"
- The specific URL of the page containing the error
- A clear description of what is incorrect
- The correct information with supporting evidence (official documents, government records, court orders)
- Your name and contact information
5. How to Request Content Takedown
If you believe any user-generated content (comments, discussions, issue reports) is defamatory, illegal, or violates our Content Moderation Policy:
- Email support@civicrate.in with subject "Takedown Request"
- Include the URL of the content and specific objection
- We will review the request within 72 hours
- If the content violates our policies, it will be removed
- If the content is a legitimate opinion, we may add a "disputed" label rather than remove it
6. Legal Requests
For requests backed by court orders or legal notices, send them to legal@civicrate.in. We comply with all valid Indian court orders.
7. Response Timeline
- Factual corrections: Within 48 hours
- Content takedown requests: Within 72 hours
- Legal requests: As per applicable law
